In their latest report, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has said gas boilers should be banned by 2025 to help save the planet from Climate Change and in order to achieve net-zero by 2050.

An End to Gas Boilers

Too many of us, gas boilers provide our hot water and heating requirements in a convenient and cheap way. So why would we bother with upgrading our heating system with something that seems would cost a fortune and be of a lengthily process in order to get installed.

In the UK alone, homes heated with oil or gas contribute towards 20% of the total carbon emissions released into the atmosphere. Gas boilers are causing immense damage to our planet and are massively contributing towards the climate crisis we are facing.

The report compiled by the IEA advises on a 400-step plan on how we will achieve net-zero by 2050. One of which is the banning the selling and instillation of gas boilers, unless compatible with hydrogen.  The prospect of their advised steps coming into effect is inevitable, and it’s time to prepare our properties for the near in sight future.

The Alternative to Gas Boilers

Panic is starting to set in, and many are asking questions. What is the alternative? Can I afford these changes? When are these future standards coming into effect? Is the supply of gas coming to an end? The list continues.

There are a number of alternatives which could be considered when looking to replace our gas boilers for a greener, cleaner and more compliant heating system. With hydrogen supplies only able to meet the demands of approximately 11%. And the report suggesting a 300 % increase of heat pumps to be installed within a 20-year period. Light has been shone for the direction we should consider when looking to upgrade our heating systems.

Types of Heat Pumps

The most popular types of heat pumps are either an air source or ground source heat pump. Both systems use renewable energy and are able to dramatically lower your carbon footprint and help you save on energy bills. There are a few factors to consider when looking to install either of the two, and professional advice and planning is significant.

Bumblebee Energy has a team with over 100 years of experience within the renewable industry. Speing in the design, install and repair/maintenance of heat pumps in Cornwall. We are committed to providing the best solution for you, taking into consideration all aspects. Needless to say, Bumblebee Energy is Cornwall’s renewable energy expert, here to assist you every step of the way.

Finance and Installation

We understand that for some the initial cost of upgrading our heating systems can cloud our decision on whether or not to go ahead, despite all its amazing advantages. At Bumblebee Energy., we offer loan options from Phoenix Financial Consultants Limited (“Phoenix”) on heat pump installation quotes, with finance available for 0% APR representative.

In a recent article by The Sun, it is stated that homeowners of a 4-bed house who upgrade their gas boilers to an air source heat pump, could save up to £1300 annually on their heating bills. With such savings, the idea of a heat pump paying itself off, whilst meeting your heating and hot water requirements all year round looks highly achievable.

With regards to instillation. When speaking to our Engineering Manager, who oversees installations, including the quality control of them. It’s been confirmed that the procedure is a lot less daunting then imagined. Depending on the system installed, installation can be anywhere between 1-3 weeks with your involvement being stress free and simple.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I think it’s safe to say that heat pumps are somewhat the perfect edition to your Cornish property. Whether it be domestic or commercial. Apart from being future compliant, heat pumps offer an almost endless list of benefits. From a long-life span, big savings, top of the top efficiency, outstanding performance, improved air quality and so much more.

Overall, investing in a heat pump is potentially the best thing you can do for your property in Cornwall. Especially when considering preparing it for the future and saving on energy bills.
